Job Description:
Hutchison Hayes Separation Inc. has an opportunity for a Field Service Engineer. This role will provide technical assistance and support to design engineers and equipment end users in the quick and efficient start-up of newly installed equipment or repair of existing equipment. Perform equipment trial runs; investigate tests, repairs and overhauls of Centrifuge equipment and systems. Perform service calls and provide technical service including feedback on problem evaluation and resolution either on site or via written and verbal communication. Address service and warranty problems in order to trouble shoot and correct problems within a time frame that maintains satisfied customers. Evaluate system performance and efficiency while considering and promoting future sales opportunities.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- This position requires work in a construction type environment, travel to sites that could be in remote locations, work on a schedule of sometimes up to 12-15 hours per day for up to 2 weeks. The Field service engineer may be required to enter confined space areas, to be on his/her feet for most of the day, to perform heavy lifting.
- A Field Service Engineer is responsible for commissioning of Decanter and vertical Separators as well as ancillary systems. The Field Service Engineer must have the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, PLC programs (Schneider - Telemecanique) and HMI (Schneider - Telemecanique).
- Handle special assignments in-house as directed by department manager to improve customer service wherever possible.
- Assure nothing sits without action in an expedient manner and that communication back to the customer happens on a most timely basis.
- Communicate on a timely basis with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Design Engineers so that problems are not repeated on future products and promote continuous improvement of process / equipment design.
- Assist the Field Service Manager as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have qualifications that include:
- Understand Decanters and disc stack separators including but not limited to installation, loading, start up, troubleshooting, commissioning, operation and training of customers personnel on the equipment.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret basic electrical and mechanical drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Schneider Twido software is beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Available for extensive travel (75%), often on short notice
